You've seen our ad on the top of the zone, but have you clicked the link and visited our website, we have added myspace and facebook, along with our show popups. We also are adding shows at a fairly rapid pace. We have love songs, old classics and even todays best hits from all genres. The only thing we dont have is you the listener. Now I'm not supposed to do this but the direct link is http://sc9.spacialnet.com:22132/ but there is a listen link on the site that if you want will open a web player. Visit the Website today!! http://www.blind-mans.net

No offense, but you really might want to find a .. different set of initials. Every time I hear it, the first to, bm, together like that just makes me really not want to listen.

Post 4 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Thursday, 07-Feb-2008 18:29:00

look it stands for Blind Mans Net Radio therefore the initials are B M N

Post 5 by margorp (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Sunday, 10-Feb-2008 15:29:47

yeah...lol!

Post 6 by Toonhead71 (move over school!) on Tuesday, 12-Feb-2008 3:54:58

Hi. Um, yeah. choosing the first 2 letters, bm, were not the smartest move you could make. Plus, putting your disability right there in the title seems tacky in the extreme. If it's just a few listeners like friends then that's ok, but don't expect hundreds of listeners with the word blind right there in the title. It baffles me why some blind people absolutely insist on putting the word blind in everything they do, but to me it smacks of uncreativity and it just doesn't look cool, especially from the point of view of a sighted listener. People will absolutely not listen to something like this unless they're one of your friends or something, I can almost guarantee it. I'm not saying all this to be mean, I'm just trying to save you from making mistakes others have made, and then the station shuts down 3 weeks later due to lack of interest. If you want this to really work, try a different approach like something more general in life, or take a set of call letters and give it a nickname like some of these regular stations do. or just call it the wackiest thing you can think of. Then when someone asks you why you named it that, you can truely say I was just messing around and the idea popped in there. That's justa few hints.

Post 7 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Tuesday, 12-Feb-2008 11:17:56

Hate to say it, but our first idea was Battlecruiser Radio

Post 8 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Tuesday, 12-Feb-2008 11:18:32

Post 9 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Saturday, 16-Feb-2008 6:58:34

Post 10 by margorp (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Saturday, 16-Feb-2008 15:07:18

I agree with DJ tunehead.

Post 11 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Sunday, 17-Feb-2008 3:05:42

It doesnt matter what toonhead says, We had two names and most people who do listen love us because we do put the word blind into the name. As one of my sighted DJs said, if people cant accept they are blind and live with those who wish to embrace it then they are not in touch with themselves.

Post 12 by margorp (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Friday, 22-Feb-2008 11:12:21

well, at any rate your moddo should be:
"w b m n- we shit the hits!" That's for B M.
Joking, I'm sure it's a fine station.

Post 13 by Nick6489 (11 years a Zoner) on Tuesday, 26-Feb-2008 11:15:53

I happen to like the Battlecruiser radio name. It's random, it's in your face, it works. Battlecruiser radio: Attacking you with our best sound.

Post 14 by Austin (the magic fan!) on Tuesday, 26-Feb-2008 17:47:57

yeah battle cruiser sounds excelent. much like the blade sounded excelent but sunk like a rock... we won't go there though.

Post 15 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Wednesday, 27-Feb-2008 8:27:47

Well we'll see but I believe its 1 yes vote and 10 no votes and the poll closes in a week or so

Post 16 by Toonhead71 (move over school!) on Thursday, 28-Feb-2008 13:39:15

If I was gonna pick between the 2, battlecruiser radio all the way.

Post 17 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Thursday, 28-Feb-2008 22:33:01

Of course you would toonhead

Post 18 by fuzzy101 (The master of fuzz!!) on Thursday, 28-Feb-2008 23:49:10

It would certainly be an attention grabber.
Just get a logo of a battleship to go with it and there you go.

Post 19 by Toonhead71 (move over school!) on Friday, 29-Feb-2008 13:01:39

See, Herb knows what it's all about. I'm not necessarily saying that the name BMN radio is bad or wrong, it's just not something I would do, because I don't believe putting the word blind in the name will attract a lot of sighted people. Sure the guy who said that people have to be accepting of someone's disability is right, but this isn't about accepting or not accepting the disability, it's about using the disability in the name of the station, which gives the impression that that's all you're programming for. I know it's a stupid thing that people are like that, but that's how some people see it. Just let the station be what it's gonna be and don't make it be something it's not. What I mean is, if the station is just for you and some friends to screw around on the weekends or whenever you have the time, that's awesome, rock on, have fun. but if you're programming to a larger audience, you have a humongous line to stand in. There are thousands upon thousands of internet stations going right now, and you are going to have to present something really extraordinarily sensational to attract interest, and promote it in such a way that lots of people, not just your average listening audience knows about it. With everyone and his brother wanting to start their own internet station now, the peaces of the pie are beginning to be so fragmented that it's tough to get anyone listening unless there's something big going. So just have fun with this and worry about huge audiences and lots of success. Let that happen in time. If you're good enough, word of mouth will help too.

Post 20 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Friday, 29-Feb-2008 13:57:23

Well toonhead with a 14 to 12 vote we are going with battlecruiser radio but we are adding more stuff, we are fixing the forum redoing the myspace and facebook. Adding a station history page and even redoing some of our application. Our target audience is blind people and we encourage blind and slighted alike to listen. I'm redoing the server to include a download manager so that archives will finally be done and uploaded and our first contest idea is almost ready... In other words, there is plenty that is coming up soon!!

Post 21 by Toonhead71 (move over school!) on Friday, 29-Feb-2008 18:25:28

that does sound awesome, and the download manager idea is certainly an interesting one. I know other stations that have archives, but the download manager is an interesting one not found on any other station I've heard about. Nice one.

Post 22 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Saturday, 01-Mar-2008 0:19:48

Well the download manager is a step to try and prevent hotlinking

Post 23 by kool_turk (This site is so "educational") on Saturday, 01-Mar-2008 0:22:07

Just one other thing, if you're going to advertise on the zone for instance, make sure it's up. If people start clicking on the link and the station isn't up, you're going to lose listeners real fast. I've seen it with stations that are no longer with us, other than that there's nothing else I have to add.

Post 24 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Saturday, 01-Mar-2008 5:57:15

well I had to take it down to fix some stuff but its up sorta

Post 25 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Saturday, 01-Mar-2008 13:32:40

well just a tiny bit more down time tonight and then its finshed and up for good, you guys got no idea how hard it is to redo all this.

Post 26 by Toonhead71 (move over school!) on Saturday, 01-Mar-2008 16:33:57

See? Now if certain other people who write posts here about radio stations would learn some of this stuff, , I think things would be a lot nicer. You can't just throw on a radio station and expect instant results. It takes hard hard work. If you expect success in 2 weeks you're kidding yourself. and with so many stations out there, you're in for a challenge. but it sounds like you're filling a need there.

Post 27 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Sunday, 02-Mar-2008 5:41:26

a good radio station is not cheap nor free either. To run a good station in the beginning your looking at $150 and it only gets more expensive from that point on. Also you got constant website work.

Post 28 by fuzzy101 (The master of fuzz!!) on Sunday, 02-Mar-2008 18:07:09

amen to that.

Post 29 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Monday, 03-Mar-2008 10:03:28

about the new site, no its not ready so we are still for the moment at http://www.blind-mans.net/ also for those who are sighted, our new look is up other than the history page and I'm working on that as I am typing this So expect it tonight. The download manager is giving me a hard time but look for it to be there as well soon.

Post 30 by margorp (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Tuesday, 04-Mar-2008 16:38:59

your targeting jus blind people?
Wow...try expanding.
That's like if a black person had an all black station...oh yeah they do...it's called BET

Post 31 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Tuesday, 04-Mar-2008 16:45:56

listen up you stupid ass, our audience is everyone. We are not just for blind people or we would just have blind Dee-jays. What I said was our audience target is the blind but we are for everyone and if you missed that then you are indeed stupid. My problem with you is you failed to read either that or you cant. If we were for the blind only I would have been like the rest of the blind stations out there and thrown up a sloppy mess and called it a website but I didnt. I went out got a background made and an banner. Learned how to do good stacked tables and organized my site. Your post has further made the world a dumber place. Congrats.

Post 32 by fuzzy101 (The master of fuzz!!) on Tuesday, 04-Mar-2008 17:44:02

A friendly piece of advice.
Never insult any listener or potential listner like that.
You're only going to hurt yourself by doing that.

Post 33 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Tuesday, 04-Mar-2008 17:48:54

normally I wouldnt, but stupid comments call for it. Ok heres a nicer way to put it. Our target audience is primary a blind audience but we encourage all to listen slighted or blind alike.

Post 34 by fuzzy101 (The master of fuzz!!) on Tuesday, 04-Mar-2008 17:58:53

Oh and just for the record, your statement you made earlier and your current one does indicate that you're primary target is blind people. If it makes me stupid for interpreting that way in your opinion then oh well but maybe you should just refraise and say that your station is for everyone.

Post 35 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Tuesday, 04-Mar-2008 18:16:19

We have and never will be a completely blind minded station, the sooner you get this in your thick head the better.

Post 36 by Toonhead71 (move over school!) on Wednesday, 05-Mar-2008 14:14:50

Ok, Battle Cruiser Radio is now relegated to the place of the 12 year old kid in his bedroom playing radio for me. If you're serious, and you want listeners, don't insult them. Word does get around you know. and in the blind community word has a funny way of traveling really really fast.

Post 37 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Wednesday, 05-Mar-2008 14:17:45

Ok I'd like to say sorry to the two I insulted and invite them to tune in if they so choose, next time I'll try to be more clear about things. new server if you want it, the stream hosting company screwed up so this one is free for a month http://sc3.spacialnet.com:23010/

Post 38 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Thursday, 06-Mar-2008 17:23:51

moving this to a board called Battle Cruiser Radio
